YOU BETTA RUN! in enormous battered capitals on a black ground.

The free running app that doesn't suck

Three questions. A real training plan. A voice that will not shut up. Nothing to pay, now or ever.

Coming to the App Store

What it does

  • It picks your plan

Three questions. Ninety-seven real training plans. You see the whole thing — every week, every session — before you run a single step.

  • Then it shouts at you

Start it and pocket it. Warm-up, reps, splits, the last kilometre and a fair amount of abuse. You don't touch the phone again until you've finished.

  • It shuts up for your song

Cues duck your music, say their piece and hand it straight back. Expensive apps still get this wrong. It's the hill we're dying on.

  • It listens to your heart

Any Bluetooth strap, or a watch set to share. Easy runs coach on effort instead of pace — three-quarters of your max, a minute of grace, silent on hills. A nudge, not a nag.

  • It changes its mind

Easy, fine or brutal. Say it enough and the plan actually moves. Down before up, never twice in a week, and never without asking you first.

The voices

Pick who shouts

  • Poster: the pink Runt character in a wide-brimmed campaign hat, mouth open mid-bellow, fists clenched on a dusty parade ground.

    Full Metal Jogger

Basic training for your legs. A drill instructor who hates you, a recruit who is worse than you, and a narrator who has seen it all.

  • Poster: the pink Runt character in a tall pointed hat and dark cloak, holding a wooden staff on a mountain path under a stormy sky.

    The Fellowship of the Run

An epic quest, except the quest is Tuesday's easy run. A wizard who will not let you stop, a gardener who will not let you stop alone, and a dwarf and an elf keeping score.

  • Poster: the pink Runt character in a bush hat and shoulder strap, standing at the entrance to a torchlit jungle valley.

    Jogassic Park

A theme park full of things that want to eat you, and a jog through the middle of it. A showman with more money than judgement and a warden who admires anything that runs.

  • Poster: the pink Runt character in a dark cap, running hard through bare winter woods at dusk.

    The Silence of the Legs

A trainee talking herself through it, a chief who never sleeps, a man downstairs who should not be there, and a doctor who finds your split times delicious.

  • Poster: the pink Runt character in a striped scarf and dark robe, a lit castle on the hill behind him at night.

    The Boy Who Ran

A school of magic, a running plan, and fifteen people with opinions about it. A headmaster who twinkles, a potions master who despises your splits, a dark lord who can hear your heart.

Also in the box: PING, which runs silent and runs deep — one ping a kilometre and nothing else at all. And NONE, for people who train alone, in silence.

It swears. Cheerfully, and often. Clean mode drops the sweary lines and every cue still says something — a different recording, not a bleep.

  • Free

Every plan, every voice, every feature. No trial, no paywall, nothing held back to sell you later.

  • No account

No sign-up, no password, no email. There is nothing to sign into.

  • Nothing collected

No analytics, no tracking, no ads. Your runs never leave your phone.
